Sharks will win in Kano with fair officiating insist Gbenga Ogunbote

Blue Angels head coach has beckoned on match officials to put the tenets of their profession to the letter as the league season enters the home stretch

Sharks helmsman Gbenga Ogunbote has said that Blue Angels can win games anywhere with good officiating.

The Port Harcourt side have been insipid since the start of the season but they have managed to turn their season around albeit temporarily having posted impressive outings in their last five matches where they have chalked home 13 points out of a possible 15.

Ogunbote in an interview with Goal noted that match officials should learn to uphold the tenets of the game if they want Nigerian football to flourish like what is obtainable overseas.

He stressed that Sharks would continue to be competitive until the league season ends and that the players would not be carried away by their recent rise on the log.

“We are happy that everything is going according to plan presently. We cannot wish for more but like the biblical Oliver Twist we shall ask for more. No one is safe on the league and so many things can still happen between now and the end of the season,” Ogunbote told Goal.

"We can win anywhere with good officiating. We are going to Kano next and we are very sure of our chances against them if the match officials are firm and just in their decision making."

Sharks are 12th on the log with 36 points from 26 matches.
