Ozil Admits Wenger Convinced Him to Join Arsenal

Mesut Ozil says it was Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger that convinced him to join the club, along-side him was German team-mates Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski.
Ozil says it was a telephone call which pushed him to decide his future, leaving Real Madrid for Arsenal with Arsenal smashing their transfer record by over 20million.
Ozil's first plan and priority was to fight for a first team place at Real Madrid and eventually sign a new contract, however it was one phone-call which made Ozil have a change of heart and decide to dedicate his long term future to Arsenal.
Ozil commented on the phone call, ''Somehow this telephone call just flicked a switch in me,'' Ozil said, ''I thought: 'What he is telling me is what I have missed at Real: transparency, trust, respect.''
''He told me exactly how he sees me (as a player), how he wants to use me, what he expects from me and what he hopes I will contribute (Towards the team).''
Ozil also surprisingly said the amount hasn't put any pressure on him and that he would of joined the Gunners on a free.
''The transfer fee has nothing to do with me. I would have joined Arsenal on a free.''
