David Luiz not your man Insist Roman Abramovich to barcelona

David Luiz
Barcelona has ended their pursuit of Chelsea star David Luiz, having been priced out of a move by Blues owner Roman Abramovich.

Chelsea's Russian millionaire owner tag  a £40 million price-tag on Luiz's head to ward off interest in the Brazilian defender, with Barcelona long-term admirers.

Barcelona officials believed they had a genuine chance of signing the 26-year-old Samba star when reports emerged that Bayern Munich were close to bringing Luiz to the Allianz Arena.

But, Chelsea have made it clear that they will not consider any bids for the Confederations Cup winner, and that Luiz's long-term future lies at Stamford Bridge.

Having failed in their attempt to lure the former Benfica star to the Nou Camp, the Catalan giants have turned their attention towards Liverpool's Daniel Agger.

However, a deal for the Reds' centre-half is likely to prove equally as problematic, with Gerardo Martino having already seen one bid rejected for the Danish international.

That said, Agger is likely to command a significantly smaller transfer fee, if a deal can be reached between Liverpool and Barcelona.
