Fernandinho was wanted by Chelsea over the summer, but says he has nothing to prove ahead of Manchester City's trip to west London.
City are due at Stamford Bridge on Sunday for another heavyweight clash towards the top of the Premier League table.
Both sides harbour title ambitions this season, and both have positioned themselves just behind the early pace-setters.
Fernandinho will be hoping to help City clamber above Chelsea with victory in the capital, but insists his failure to secure a switch to the Blues will not be serving as added incentive.
The Brazil international said: "It is not a case of showing my best against Chelsea, it is about showing my best against all the teams.
"We try to play good football to win all our games, that is no different whether it is against Chelsea or anyone else."
He added on Jose Mourinho's interest in his services: "It is a complicated story.
"There was contact before Manchester City came in for me but nobody told me about this in Shakhtar.
"I don't know what happened between Shakhtar and Chelsea but I'm very happy. I have no regrets.
"City's results show this. We try to play good football and in the last few games we have played good football and got good results."
Chelsea v Man City is on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday afternoon from 3.30pm
